Pro Bono & Cy Pres Work
At the core of Troy Law’s mission is giving back to the communities it serves. Troy Law volunteers with reputable pro bono organizations across the United States such as Delaware Volunteer Legal Services and Legal Services Vermont to provide trauma-informed advocacy for victims of domestic violence to obtain Orders of Protection in domestic abuse and/or Protection from Abuse proceedings, limited representation for tenants facing eviction in tenant-landlord disputes, and estate planning assistance for low-income individuals.
For Troy Law’s commitment to the advocacy of workplace fairness, Troy Law attorneys have been recognized with a special award in 2024 from The Shelley Leinheardt Workplace Fairness Fund, a joint project of Workplace Fairness and National Employment Lawyers’ Association, New York. Troy Law is selected as the volunteer “spotlight” in the upcoming newsletter for Legal Services Vermont.
Troy Law attorneys also volunteer their time to bridge the gap in language justice and access to self-expression for incarcerated writers in their partnership with the Queens Public Library and the Incarcerated Writers Initiative at Columbia University. They have been invited to high schools, universities, and graduate programs at Columbia University, New York University, Cardozo University School of Law, Swarthmore College, Universidad Diego Portales, and Stuyvesant High School to provide lectures and presentations on employment discrimination, writing, and literary translation and interpretation based on their recognized expertise in those fields.
