Wage-and-Hour
Beginning on December 31, 2019, non-exempt employees* are entitled to a minimum hourly wage of $15.00 in New York City; $13.00 in Long Island and Westchester, and 11.80 in the rest of the state. Across the United States, workers who work over 40 hours in any given workweek must be paid at time-and-one-half of their hourly pay rate. Employers who require employees to work off-the-clock, clean their own uniforms, and deliver using their bicycles and motorcycles without reimbursing them for the costs are violating the law. We have represented clients in at least 100 cases before the Second Circuit and across the country to recover from your employer money to which you are entitled.
If you receive a flat rate regardless of the number of hours that you work or if you work more than forty (40) hours without receiving overtime pay at one and one half (1.5) times your regular hourly rate for each hour you work, you may be eligible for overtime compensation, including compensatory and liquidated damages.
- Worried about your immigration status?
- About not having filed a tax return?
- About not being able to afford to sue?
If you answered yes to any or all of the three questions, you are not alone.
It may surprise you that your answers to these questions DO NOT affect your eligibility to sue and win compensatory and liquidated damages from your current and/or former employer.
Troy Law, PLLC has successfully advocated for many non-documented immigrant workers for owed wages, minimum wage pay, and overtime pay before the court.
Troy Law protects workers against the illegal labor practices of corporations. All too often, the corporations you work for hide behind corporate veils designed to hinder your pursuit of owed wages. Employers may say that you have never worked there, forge records, and/or threaten to fire you.
We are all too familiar with the tricks that employers pull to silence you. With us, you will have your day in court. You will be heard. We know how to overcome the challenges in front of us, and we will work with you in our team so that your experience will be shared with an unbiased judge.
